Steven E. Nelson
Steven graduated from The American University, Washington D.C. with a B.S. in criminal justice in 1979. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1982. Upon graduation, he returned back to New Jersey and was accepted to the New Jersey Bar in 1982.
Beginning his legal career as an associate with a sole practioner in South Amboy, NJ, Steven then moved on to join the firm Karasic, Stone & Susser, Esqs., Oakhurst, NJ as an associate in 1984, and was named partner of Karasic, Stone, Nelson & Fromer Esqs. in 1988. In 1988, he and Bruce Fromer formed their own firm Nelson & Fromer, a litigation based law firm that is dedicated to providing aggressive, professional legal representation with personal attention to, an understanding of each client’s individual needs.
Steven’s true passion is the practice of criminal law and his practice is exclusive to Superior Court, where he has successfully defended criminal defense of indictable crimes and municipal court defense of criminal offenses and traffic violations. He has over 30 years of trial experience defending clients charged with among others drug-related crimes, homicide, sex crimes, robbery, burglary and white collar crimes.
Steven served as lead defense on a 4-month white-collar crime trial involving the Asbury Park Board of Education renovation of the High School football stadium. A successful defense of a client charged with murder of a relative in Monmouth County. He has a successful trial defense record in countless matters tried before jury in nearly 30 years of trial experience.
Steven is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, Monmouth County Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and National Association for Administration of Justice. He is currently the Co-Chairperson of the Monmouth County Criminal Practice Committee, serving since 2006.
Steven currently resides in Monmouth County.
